pre-treatment permanent makeup (pmu)
Permanent Makeup (PMU) Pre-Treatment Guide
Before undergoing your permanent makeup (PMU) treatment, it is essential that you are fully informed about the procedure to ensure your absolute safety, satisfaction, and the most beautiful, long-lasting results.
Understanding the Procedure: Permanent makeup involves expertly implanting pigment into the skin to flawlessly enhance features such as your eyebrows, eyeliner, or lips. While it is a cosmetic tattoo, it is considered semi-permanent as it will gently and naturally fade over time.
Your Consultation & Patch Test: A thorough pre-treatment consultation is crucial. During this time, we will discuss your desired aesthetic outcomes, carefully assess your medical history, and perform a mandatory patch test to check for any allergic reactions.
48 Hours Before Your Appointment: We strongly advise avoiding alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin and ibuprofen) for at least 24–48 hours prior to your procedure. These substances can increase bleeding during the treatment, which can negatively affect your pigment retention.
Skincare & Sun Exposure: Please avoid tanning, sunbeds, facials, and chemical peels in the days leading up to your treatment. On the day of your procedure, please ensure the area to be treated is clean and completely free of makeup, lotions, or any other skincare products.
The Healing Journey & Consent: Understanding the healing process—which includes initial scabbing and natural colour changes—is key to achieving your desired look. We will clearly explain all details, risks, and expectations, and ask for your informed consent before any treatment begins.
Aftercare aesthetics
Aesthetic Treatment Aftercare
Aftercare is a vital part of your aesthetic journey. It directly impacts your healing process, supports skin recovery, and ensures the longest-lasting, most beautiful results. Depending on your specific procedure, it is completely normal to experience mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or slight bruising immediately afterwards.
To ensure optimal healing, please adhere to the following guidelines:
The First 24 Hours: Please avoid touching or applying pressure to the treated area. Refrain from wearing makeup for at least 24 hours, and keep your skin out of direct sunlight and away from sunbeds.
Skincare: Follow any specific cleansing or moisturising instructions provided by your practitioner. We highly recommend using only gentle, fragrance-free products while the skin is recovering.
Injectables (Dermal Fillers & Anti-Wrinkle Treatments): For 24 to 48 hours post-treatment, please strictly avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, and excessive heat (such as saunas, steam rooms, or hot baths).
Monitoring: Keeping the treated area clean and protected is essential. If you experience any unusual symptoms—such as excessive swelling, severe pain, or signs of infection—please contact the clinic immediately.
Follow-Up: A follow-up appointment may be recommended to assess your beautiful results and determine if any slight touch-ups are required.
Aftercare permanent makeup (PMU)
Permanent Makeup (PMU) Aftercare
Proper aftercare for your permanent makeup is crucial for ensuring optimal healing, beautiful pigment retention, and flawless, even results.
What to Expect Initially: Immediately following your procedure, the treated area may appear darker and more intense than you expect. You may also experience mild redness, swelling, and tenderness. Please be assured that this is completely normal and will gently subside over the following days.
The First 7–10 Days: It is essential to keep the area clean and dry. Please strictly avoid touching, scratching, or picking at any scabs or flaking skin, as this can cause scarring and patchy pigment loss. If advised by your technician, gently cleanse the area with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and apply your recommended healing ointment sparingly to maintain hydration.
What to Avoid: During the primary healing period, please avoid applying makeup to the area, heavy sweating, swimming, saunas, and direct sun exposure. Try to sleep on your back to prevent rubbing the treated skin. Do not use exfoliants, acids, or active skincare ingredients near the PMU until it is fully healed.
Settling & Top-Ups: The colour will naturally soften and settle over the next few weeks. A follow-up appointment is typically scheduled 4–8 weeks after your initial treatment for a perfecting touch-up, ensuring any areas that faded unevenly are beautifully restored.
